Since 2001, ArchaeoTek has been dedicated to providing field and laboratory education and research opportunities in Transylvania, Romania, and Kvemo Kartli in the Republic of Georgia for archaeology, anthropology, and forensics students and enthusiasts, offering affordable ways to explore their passion while maintaining the highest standards of research and academic excellence.
After serving over 2000 students and volunteers from more than 15 nations, participating on more than two dozen projects, we have become a world class archaeological, bioanthropological, and explorative geophysics research center. Our excavations projects cover the entire period of Carpathian Prehistory; the Roman colonization of Dacia; the Middle Ages in Romania, and the Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Age of Georgia..
Our interdisciplinary include the fields of osteology, burial practices, bioarchaeology; applied field geophysics and geochemistry. We also offer opportunities in digital curation, photogrammetry applications; experimental archaeology, and field museology; architectural and occupational archaeological field excavations, artifacts analysis, and museum photography.
ArchaeoTek’s core tenet is that academic knowledge on its own, without competency in the appropriate field skills required for the current job market, can only get you so far. As a result, all of our programs focus on skill acquisition and implementation through intensive hands-on experimental learning, within an intensive academic context, all provided professional and highly trained staff.
And might as well do it in a setting filled with culture and history, castles and churches, magic and legends, heroes and villains, wine and plum brandy…
